We'll take you into their homes, to share a glass of tea with a Viet Cong general or a banana pancake with a gaggle of giggling children. You see everything that is Vietnam - gorgeous countryside, smiling children, waterfalls, coffee fields, hill-tribe people and countless cottage industries - and all while riding along the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail.

The first day takes you from Da Lat along sections of the lower HCM Trail and through numerous minority villages where you'll stop and meet people that other tourists will only read about in their guide books. Looking out over hills covered by coffee plants and jungle - as well as some that have been denuded by Agent Orange - you'll discover just how enjoyable and comfortable it is to ride pillion with an Easy Rider.

On the second day, you start with a walk around the M'Nong minority village where you probably spent the night, followed by a shorter trip to some lovely waterfalls in the area around Buon Ma Thot, the principal city of Vietnam's central highlands.

Day three takes you north - perhaps to Pleiku or Kon Tom depending on your progress. You might stop and see a family making rice pancakes or noodle to sell at the market, or tending to their black pepper vines. In Kon Tom, two orphanages care for over 400 ethnic minority children and both the nuns and the kids love a visit. Often this is a good point to stop for a day of rest - you can visit nearby minority villages, meet some locals or practice English (or football!)with the orphans.

The final two days are through the heart of the gorgeous Truong Son mountains along a part of the main Ho Chi Minh trail surrounded by dense jungle. As your guides tell you about the ingenuity of the men and women who built and used this trail, you'll almost be able to picture them fording the streams and fading into the steaming mist. In the the early evening of the final day you arrive in Hoi An, a lovely laid back town known for making clothes and serving authentic Western food. So grab a gin and tonic at one of the bars and tell all those who just stepped off the Highway 1 tourist bus about your adventures.

Da Lat to Hoi An, and on to the Nha Trang/Mui Ne beaches

This follows the same route as 5 night trip but then after Hoi An heads down the coast. This is a more extensive trip and takes about 10 days to Nha Trang and a couple more than that to Mui Ne. It is also good to include a couple rest days in the middle as we’ll be covering a lot of ground. There is lots to see from Cham towers to beautiful beaches and tiny fishing villages - and plenty of time for stopping at roadside cafes for a nice cup of Trung Nguyen coffee and a "chat" with the locals. The food also changes which can give you a whole new experience of Vietnam. At Nha Trang, the crashing waves and the roar of the surf provide the soundtrack to a vibrant slice of a more modernized Vietnam. Eight days will allow you to visit interesting towns, boat around some of the islands, drop by the local candy “factory”, shop at the floating market and learn how fish sauce is made. We can also then show you a bit of HCMC and leave you to continue your travels from there. Many other people try to build on the success of the Easy Riders by calling themselves one both in Da Lat and in other towns. Easy Riders all have blue plastic badges with their name. We also all ride motorbikes (not mopeds) with sufficient power to get you up and down through the hills and mountains of the Central Highlands. We aren't just drivers, we are guides - we speak English and some of the members also speak French, Italian, German, and other languages.

Traffic: If you've already visited HCMC and Hanoi, the idea of driving around the streets of Vietnam might seem intimidating. But don't worry - we are safe drivers with years and thousands of miles of experience driving here. And as you'll see from the pictures, we often find places where we have the road to ourselves.

Backpacks: On the multi-day trips, we wrap your bags and backpacks in thick plastic bags and tie them to the bike behind the seat. This protects them from the dust and rain - and creates the perfect "sedan chair" for your comfort! Lean back and enjoy the ride.

Rainwear: Waterproof coats and trousers are always a good idea - when it is clear and sunny in Da Lat it might be rainy season in Hoi An. The disposable raincoats sold everywhere are a good fallback option.

Comfort: We know that the average tourist isn't used to spending endless hours sitting on a bike. We'll make sure that you have plenty of opportunities to take a short walk, rest your legs or relax your bum!

Food: Vietnamese food is delicous but we know that some things just don't sit well with Western tummies. We'll make sure the food is fresh and properly cooked. We want you to experience the full range of Vietnamese cooking without the worry.

Riding pillion: While you may see whole families on one moped, we take only one rider per bike. And there is no such thing as a rider that is too big! Our bikes can handle anything.

Cost: These vary depending on the length of the trip, whether you want us to pay for food and accommodation and any entrance fees, etc. Prices range from about 50 to 60 US dollars per person per day. Day trips are about 20 dollars (much less wear and tear on the bikes and the guides!). Our prices reflect the fact that we are experienced guides who know the spots worth seeing and can tell you about them in detail in excellent English. We'll translate your questions and comments allowing you to speak with the locals we meet. We make sure you get your money's worth!
